2 stroke vs. 4 stroke
#11
Weedy, I agree with you. GrizzlyJim thats a pretty good assessment of the ups and downs of both types of machines. I have a 99 mag 500 and a 00 explorer 400 the two-stroke explorer starts just as easily as the four-stroke mag does. The two-stoke does seem like it likes a little longer warm up time though. I used to have a 250 two-stroke Trailboss. I rode it hard for about a year and newer changed a plug, however I always used Polaris Gold synthetic oil in it. Perhaps that helped.

Since you have a CR250, I think you shoudl go with the 2 stroke, i can almost gaurentee that you will be disappointed with a 4 stroke after being spoiled with a 2 stroke, I have a Kawi KX and i gwt spoiled with it, thats why i want to get a Xplorer 400 2 stroke.
Both machiens have ups and downs, but it all depends on how you treat your machine, nothing wring with riding it HARD, but maintain it and you will be happy

I have run my 400 and 250 (both 2-strokes) in below zero degree weather with no problems. You are more likely to blow one up by running too lean than you are to foul a plug. You need to run a richer fuel mixture at cold temps. The resulting lean condition will not foul your plug, it may seize your engine.
