Bushhog, I don't know if you're new to atving or what, but you should really look into the actual displacements of quads.

All Polaris 400 2 strokes: 378cc
Arctic Cat 300: 280cc
Polaris Xplorer 250: 244cc
Suzuki King Quad: 280cc (same engine as AC)
Honda Foreman450's: 433cc
Arctic Cat 400: 371cc, far from 400!
Suzuki Quadmaster 500: 493cc, close!
Yamaha Big Bear 400: 386cc
Bomb DS650: 653cc, more!
Suzuki Quadsport 80: 82.5cc, more!
Honda 300EX: 282cc
Kawasaki Prairie, Lakota, and Bayous: 290cc
Honda Recon 250: 229cc

See what I'm getting at?

Rooster-you should not give that info away for free! You need a website with pay-per-answer policy. You have owned more quads than anyone on here, I think. You always seem to give the good and the bad points. It is humorous when someone tells part of the story and you have an addendum to the declarative.

Rooster is always on top of the game Doc, perhaps you are right. Just think rooster all these cold days when you are cleaning out the barn you could be inside banging out answers making big bucks on your website,LolLol. Back to the original topic, Its really all about marketing. 300 sounds a lot better that 282 and so on. But notice you never see anyone call a 310 a 300 . They never back up.

I believe that when AC used the 454cc as the 454 name, they where hoping to play off of the ever famous (?) Chevy Big Block 454. I know that’s the first thing that popped into my head when I heard "AC454!”.

Kagey is right; it’s all about marketing.

Man ,that really upsets me.I now know my 500cc Polaris Sportsman is only a 498cc or 499cc.Im going to write Polaris and DEMAND they somehow give me back the 2ccs they owe me.Should make a hell of a differance in top end performance. LOL ====BILL
