what kind of filter lube?

The whole reason for oiling your filter is to make it sticky, to catch the contaminates. I use PJ1 as well. I really like it. I use 100% mineral spirits to clean my filters and it works great. You might consider going with a K&N filter or a Uni-Filter. They are far superior in every way, and last a lot longer too. K&N filters supposedly last a lifetime, and have their own recomended cleaner that you can purchase at any automotive store. These filters mentioned also give a lot better and smoother throttle response.

i used pj1 air filter lube, and i think it sucks. i don't know, i don't have much knowledge on different lubes, i always had older quads and didn't care what the air filter looked liked. i used it on my scrambler 400 and it makes the filter so sticky, like glue. when i went to clean it, i couldn't get the old stuff off. it seemed like it even might have clogged the filter up alittle. is there a better filter lube thats easy to take off when you are cleaning your filter. i just have the stock foam deal that goes over the paper. have to get some more air in there. i figure all this will be done in the spring when i modify.

Try Fab 1, by Maxima for the filter oil & Uni filter cleaner. I have used them both for years here in the dust of Az. Fab 1 is very sticky to trap small particles, which after all, is the function of a filter. The Uni filter cleaner is water soluble, meaning that you can spray it on & let it sit a few minutes then rinse it off in the kitchen sink ( when the wife isn't looking).
