Which is better, Scrambler 500 4X4, or the 400 4X4?

That’s what I'm hoping for, but like everything else it seams impossible to confirm. I will have to wait and see. I heard that they were going to be limited production and that is why they hadn't been listed on Polaris web site. If so I will just have to keep my eyes open and jump on the first one I see.

I know you said you didn't care for the looks of the prairie(I don't either) but my friend bought one and I rode it. You talk about speed>>>>
We raced it against a hopped up scrambler 500 4x4, the kaw. beat it by 4 1/2 four wheeler lenghts. I say ride the KAW. and see what you think. My riding preferences are the same as yours and I know I am most likely buying the KAW. I too want the top speed of a 400 ex but want to play in the mud every now and then. The grizz. is also a good machine but the ride on the KAW set me str8, the low center of gravity and the bikes ability to handle like a true sport machine was what sold me.

I bought a 2000 Cramber 400 4X4 recently. It has a pipe, silencer, V-force reeds and jet and k&n. I hope you do not think you will be able to take one in a drag on a 650. It will be ugly in my opinion. I also do not think a 400EX would even be close in a 100 Yard drag. i am not sure about top end. Once you modify a 400, it is no long in the same class with the Scrambler 500, even a modified 500. It is hard to make the 500s much faster than stock.
I remember the first 650 at Shiloh ridge. It smoked a piped and jetted 400 EX over and over in the drag.
All of these bikes are awesome for their intended use. If you want low end grunt with sport bike performance, the 650 is the way to go.

Area 51,
Just wanted to confirm for you that there is indeed a 2002 Scrambler X 400 4x4... I picked mine up on Tuesday and am loving every minute of it.
I had called every dealer in Maine and New Hampshire and found a total of 3 between the 2 states - I bought from the dealer with the best price that treated me exceptionally well - Littleton Motorsports in Littleton, NH.
They exist, and they rock.. I recommend one highly, just put in the leg work to find one and I think once you see and ride one -- you will be hooked.
Glad to answer any questions!

I just picked mine up last night, Scrambler 400 4x4 X. This bike has to be the best looking atv out there bar none. It's almost to nice, don't want to get it dirty. My dealer got only one and that is it. So they will be a rare find, but if you can find one, you won't be let down. I got mine for $5400 otd. This 400 has a metal flake blue plastic with yellow a-arms,springs,floorboards,front skid and X graphics. The seat is 3 colors blue, yellow and black. And ceramic coated exhaust. This 400 X is sweeeeet.

Go with the 2 stroke 400 Scrambler. I've got the RCR stage 1 on my '98 and it's the perfect ATV if you ask me. I also have an '85 Tecate trike so it takes a lot to keep me happy.
I used to be into 4 strokes but the raw power hit of a 2 stroke is unmatched with a 4. Or get one of each and insist you have split personality issues, works for me!
