Wow! I thought my quad was bad. BTW, brakes and tires don't count. They are normal wear items. I was considering a Kawi 650, but they seem to be having alot of problems too. Like I said before, I do regular maintenance on my Magnum 500 using only Polaris fluids and grease. I also make sure I fix anything that is wrong with it before I ride it the next time. This helps prevent other parts from breaking. Maybe Yamaha has the most reliable quads. I have owned two of them and they never broke down. I just dont like their designs and options.

Not to be rude but you can see the difference in how these people drive there atv's some same they are rough on them but haven't had anyhing break on them , and then some just say a bunch of stuff wrong with them and say nothing about them. I don't see why some eople complain about changing the belts , because it's like a chain eventually it's gonna were out.

My friends dad has replaced , a radiator , fan , front bumper , steering stem bushings , brakes ,and a few other nik nacs. Mostly because of his crash. BTW it's a scrambler400. the throttle was sticking and the rear brakes were all F*d up.

the ones who ride hard or often are the ones with the brakes.

Grease it once a month! I do it every 3rd ride and every ride if the last ride is a really wet one. It does sound like a drag but I,m on the same parts (except brake pads) on my 97 SP.

Two Racks! I do not think it counts if your bike fell out of the truck while going down the freeway.LOL

I think everyone should start listing HOW the parts broke, or why they had to replace them.

I'll be glad to tell how and why things broke.

1999 SC500 and 2000 SC400
Busted transmission case: broke because the cheap plastic guard didn't work when the chain snapped.
Second busted transmission case: A known Polaris defect. Instead of doing a recall, Polaris just fixes them when they break so at least that didn't cost anything.
8 worn out tie-rod ends: Cheap pieces of crap that wear out way too quick.
2 worn out lower steering stem bushings: See above description.
Broken frame support on the 500: Caused by getting about 2 feet of air on a small jump.
Broken frame support on the 400: Poor quality weld.
2 stripped hubs: Cheaply made hubs.
2 snapped chains: poorly designed setup that snaps chains when you jump unless you let off of the gas before you hit the ground.
Broken Swingarm: No idea why it broke other than poor quality.
Dead 4WD magnetic coil: no idea why it went bad.
Bad front strut: no idea why it went bad.
Cracked piston on the 400: Stock Polaris pistons are known to be weak.
Bad seal on the front hub: no idea why it started leaking.
Blown rear caliper seal: rear brakes were sticking

There's more, but anything else was probably my fault.

1996 Xplorer 300

One starter and recoil housing bushing

Caused by guest rider that for some unexplainable reason would not leave his thumb off of the start button for several miles!

Everything else: 100% clean bill of health even the old '99 Magnum 500 that I no longer own.
