Polaris Explorer Is Very Top Heavy
#1
I have a 1996 Polaris Exolorer 300 4x4 and it seems very top heavy. I have several other atv's and this one is the only one that feels that way. I can be driving on a hill that is not very steep and it feels like the thing is gonna roll over. I'm a pretty expierienced rider and feel the atv shouldn't bring any wheels off the ground when riding paralell on moderate inclines. Something else is that with a McPherson strut the wheels ought to make better contact with the ground without tires pulling up. If anybody else has this problem or suggestions to alleviate this problem please post back.

I have my 2000 polaris xplorer 400 lifted and have highlifter outlaw tires. I added durablue wheel spacers and they made a huge difference. It is pretty stable now but it does have it's limits. On a stock machine with no lift or huge tires it would make it very stable. Maybe wheel spacers would work well for you.

IMO, Polaris machines in general feel top heavy. I read sometime ago that you feel like you sit "on" a Polaris, rather than "in" it like on Honda's, kawi, yamis, etc. I totally agree. When I first got a polaris, it felt weird because I felt like I was sitting up high and it felt like it would tip. But I got used to it and it didn't seem to tip more often than my other bikes. I think it's just the way it feels and you'll get used to it.
