Is it the same procedure to override the override button on a 2001 SP500 HO that Floodrunner has listed on his web site? Anyone done it with success?

 

This method works on my 2001 Sportsman HO.
Cut the grey/orange wire coming from the speedo to disable the rev limiter. Then cut the purple wire and the grey/white; strip the wire coming from the switch (yellow button) to isolate it. Between the purple and the grey/white wire I installed a diode with power able to travel in the direction of the grey/white wire. That completes the reverse rev limiter override.
The diode I used is a 1N5400TR it’s a 50V 3A.
I cannot take credit for this procedure as I obtained it from another lister but I can tell you it works.
