It would depend on what you intend to do with it. I would pick the Mag 325 for farm work. It is a little heavier, has true 4wd, and an auto tranny. All 3 of these are helpful for getting more power to the ground. I personally think it rides a hair smoother, especially when loaded. A bigger oil cooler is also a plus.

HOWEVER, I would go for the Rancher for general running around/trail riding for fun. While the Magnum may be able to go a few places it won't, 99% of the time, you will still get where you want to. Lighter weight = more nimble handling, which I feel the Rancher has, and easier maintanence. I think the quality gap has closed considerably, enough so that I really don't think that on a post-01 machine that it is much of a factor anymore. The older Polaris machines had need of beefing up a few weak points, which I feel they have now. The ride is very similar with light to moderate loads, so that may not be a factor for you, either.

Also, if you are one who may consider trading in a few years, the Honda has a better resale value.

I guess to sum it up
Magnum for work, or if you feel you need maximum 4wd traction
Rancher for general trail riding

Can't go wrong with either.
