Purple plastic/new graphics question.
#1
I was thinking about installing new plastic on my Scrambler this winter. I like the purple of the '97 Scrambler 500 non HO. What year of graphics should I get so it says "400" instead of "500" and looks good with the purple? Thanks.

Hey there!
I have the purple plastic off the 500 on my 97 400 scrambler -- have had it since 97. It looks great, and bolted right on with the exception of the black oil tank piece from the 400 having to be slightly altered to snap into the purple 500 plastic (shaped slightly different for the oil cap housing)
Have had nothing but good comments and it was painless to do - took about 2 hours. I used the 400 graphics from the 97 that were yellow, and some from the sport that were yellow as well. It looks sweet and people are suprised when they hear the 400 start up after lookin at it quickly..hehehe.
That being said-- Im ready for a change now and am interested in the silver plastic! How much are you looking for for the set?

I have a 98 SCR 500H.O. it came stock with the purple plastic with the checker board graphic. I liked the looks so much when I replaced my scratched fenders last winter I put the same thing back on. The "500 H.O." graphic is yellow, so I think my 96SCR 400 had a yellow "400 Liquid cooled " graphic that would match.

Man, I have been waiting for someone to put the silver plastic on a scrambler. Go with that color. You would be the silver bullet. Also, you don't have a picture of the plastic that you could send me do you? I would love to see it even if it's not on a quad. I may buy them off you. My email is sparkster4@hotmail.com if you have a picture.

Scott,
Oh yeah, red was a big mistake for Polaris. The effect was to make them look faster. (ever notice how sport cars in comercials are either red or black?) Red is considered an "aggressive color" while blues are most often associated with "friendly colors". Black is an "intimidating color". White is a "sterile color" (clean) and purple is a "regal color" (royal) This is just a two cent psychobabble lesson from the Pa Department of Corrections academy. Personally, I feel that colors do reach people on a primal level.
I'm going with a patriotic red white and blue set up for next year. Red seat and hood, white cab (front and rear) plastic and blue highlights (handguards, stickers and pipe guard).
