My brother is considering a 1996 425 Magnum as a second machine. What are the good and bad points with this machine?

Kelly Blue Book said the price should be @$3450 and this guy is asking $3400 for the machine. Does this sound high for a clean machine with 1400 miles?

Is it chain drive?

What size tires are on the machine?

We own Sportman 500 HOs....how does the power compare?

my first polaris was a 425 2x4 to me they were the best quads polaris made dont know why they quit making them it was a great trail quad and pretty powerful also.the 3400 sounds a lil steep to me cause i sold mine for 3500 and it only had 350 miles on it.i never had the first problem with mine and the guy who bought mine has never had no problems with it also.

I'd pass on it. 3400 seems too high. Plus I think it has the 3-chain system which I am not a fan of.

3400 hundred is too high a friend bought one last year a 1996 4x4 425 Magnum 1900 miles for 2500 dollars. In really good shape. Great machine, he has put 2500 miles on it, he has replaced the rear chain and sprockets, as he admits due to his lack of taking care of it, he is not big on mantaining anything, they have the three chain deal. Which people do not seem to have much trouble with, just more to adjust than a shaft drive system. 3400 hundred could get you a newer machine though.

They are as good a bike as Polaris made with the 3 chain system, but to me the price seems a little high, unless you know where it has been, or there is some kind of guarantee that everything is good on it.

i have had one since 1997 and i gave 3500 for it then so i would say the price is a bit high.it does have a 3 chain drive system that is a pain.they have 25x8x12s on the front and 25x12x10 on rear.i love mine it has all the power i need and the 500s only beat me buy a quad length in a 1/4 mile dirt drag.
