I want mine to rev faster! My friends have rev limiters for there 400ex's but does polaris have that for a 400L sport?

You might try doing a forum search using the keyword "flywheel". I've read where some of the guys have lightened them. I'm thinking a lighter flywheel would allow faster revving. HTH

I did the search and here's what one post said...

"It made the bike snappier in the mid-range. The throttle response is instantaneous. It seems to allow the bike to make revs quicker. "

I got mine lightened and the rear wheels spin like a Banshee! She now roosts sand at 1/4 throttle!

Macgiver;
Come out to Glamis and i'll re-educate you on the ways of Polaris.
Got Sand?

Lighten the flywheel. It's awesome! I removed 2.3lbs. It kind of sucks for trail riding though.

Hmm, Macgiver, not sure if that would work. You see, in order for an engine to rev faster, you have to physically do something to the engine. Merely pulling a quad behind another will do nothing for the revs. (man, can you feel the sarcasm?)

Xplor,

Did you ever figure out what was causing your meltdowns?

there is not much to do,the 378cc engine have a too long stroke (70mm)
wich make about 7000-7200 rpm in the top end,with a lighten flywheel the engine will BUILD rpm faster to the top but you'll not see 8000 or 9000 rpm in the long run,depending what pipe you run,change your pipe for a faster one (hpd race pipe)for example run at 7300 to 7500 with proper mods.the lighten flywhhel give better throttle response as well,more torque and quicker acceleration,this is a great mod for those sport low revving quad.

fasterthan gas what do you mean in that last repy? I know about the flywheel but is there another way? Like an 400ex alls you gotta do is put a bigger rev limiter in. What does the 400 sport have? I heard of a cdi box but idk?
