I have a 2000 SP335 which has the lighter plug elec.outlet. I want to use my cell phone and CB from this outlet. How can I use the power without having the entire electrical system "live". If I leave the ignition key on, the rear light stays lit, etc. Has anyone found a way around this?

Thanks

Gary

I have a 2002 SP 500 and when I want to run the cooling fan w/o running the taillight, speedo light, etc, I just use the kill switch to shut off the motor, and never tough the ignition key to kill it, leaving the actual ignition switch on. This leaves the fan on so when I stop and turn off the motor, the fan will run and cool it down, while shutting off everything else. It also runs power to the socket with this procedure, so when I shut off the kill switch, the only thing with power is the cooling fan and the power outlet. I tried it last night to see before I replied. Granted mine is a 2002, but it might work the same. Hoped this helped. Good luck !

I can't wait to try that on my quads. I always leave the key on until the fan shuts down. Great information!

Follow-up on my original message. Tried using kill switch while leaving key on- it completely shut down the elec. system, no power to outlet.

Problably works on SP500 because of coolong fan, but not on SP335. Thanks for the good info.

Don't know if you want to do this, but you could rewire that outlet or wire in another one. Just run the (+) wire from the battery, and ground it anywhere. You'd always have power, and it wouldn't draw unless something was plugged in....

Killing the kill switch on my 01 500 kills everything.
