Hey,JEEPT18 I just wanted to ask you how fast will your 650 go on a flat out race example: If you ran as fast as you could on a hard pack surface what would your top speed be- 60,62,65 68,70,miles per hour or maybe higher.

<< The Dealer I talked to, sold them as fast a he could get them out of the crate(at a $1000 over retail) >>

I am sorry, but there are some serious idiots to pay $1,000 over retail for a quad. Especially a revised quad. The (one) dealer here in central PA sells Kawasaki, Polaris and Yamaha. I go in there about every other week and my assumption is that he sells about one 700 every two weeks and one Prairie/ Grizzly a week based on what I have seen on his floor week to week.

<< In pa the polaris dealers are loaded with sp700. My old dealer sold 0ne out of eight. No one is buying them. I raced a sp700 against my 650 praire i smoked it. >>

Weather it's true or not they just had a shootout and the 650 lost to the 700 ?????????You smoked it????
Now dont get me wrong ,I like the 650 alot and I dont have anything
bad to say about it.
Here the dealer cant keep them on the floor
I planned on getting the700 but
decided to wait for the 700HO and also see what kinks they workout

HEY, jeep18 I was just curious as to how fast your 650 would run.I looked at buying the same machine you have, but liked the sportsman 500 POLARIS JUST A LITTLE BETTER because of its ground clearance

i have rode the new 700 it runs good but will not hang with kawi 650. we raced side by side and the kawi wins by 8 to 10 bike lenths. the steering on the polaris is much easier than before, which is suprising. i think lurch stated that its 700 engine fires 180 apart which is not correct. the local dealer which is great freind of mine, tells me that he was instructed not sell anymore 700s until 2 defects are solved...... the outputshaft bearing on transmision faling and also overheating condition due to coolant leak

Polaris dealers here say they are selling the 700s faster than they can order them, says they couldn't even keep one around for show.

fast4wdkid,
Do you know if there will be a recall on the output shaft bearing or do we just wait until it fails? I just got my SP700 out of the shop last Thursday for the coolant leak repair. The dealer replaced the water pump cover and the o-ring. Only time will tell if this will cure the problem. So far so good but it did take roughly 90 miles for the leak to surface the first time. My speedometer also had to be replaced due to false mileage readings. Anyone else having the same or other problems?

I think you can trace the fact of higher sales in different areas back to the type of terrain. It seems that where the others are selling and the 700 isn't the terrain is fairly smooth and flowing. There are difficult trails but not bone jarring ones. Where the 700 is selling the most the terrain is very rocky and rough. Trust me when they named the Rocky Mountains they weren't kidding. I have been a lot of places from east coast to west coast and the mountains and trails here are just plain rough. I'm not talking about difficulty but just plain sharp jagged rocks every inch of the trail. I prefer the rutted bumpy flowing dirt roads and trails of the mid-west myself but since I don't live there I have to get a machine that makes them feel as smooth as that. The 650 may be fast but when you put it on the trails out here it's hard to go fast when the tires aren't making contact and you just lost a kidney 20 feet back from a boulder you hit. I realy like the 650 especially out on the dunes at Walden but out here the smoothest ride wins the races up trails. The dealer by my house sells both Kawi and Polaris and he has plenty of 650's on the floor and can't get enough of the 700's. The Yamaha dealer here is also selling quite a few new Grizzley's most likely because of the IRS. Out here ride is king and power... well you can never have too much power in this altitude.
