Is 100+ hp possible with a 400 motor?

I just bought a 1996 400 motor as a backup for my 97 Sport. I need some ideas on what to do to the motor other than what HPD has to offer at this time. I've already have a HPD race mod on alcohol. Is anyone stroking these motors yet? I was considering the Aaen larger intake mod but it can't be done on this old of a motor according to Aaen. Is 100 hp + possible? I'm willing to do some experimenting.

YES, it is possible. Chances are if you are able to get 100 HP out of the motor, the motor will not hold up for very long. As for stroking the motor, the 400 already has a pretty long stroke and increasing it will only lead to an RPM decrease, but it will give you more torque. You could get a big-bore kit for it instead. IF you try to get 100 ponies out of that engine, I suggest you get a forged rod, crank and whatever else needs to be beefed up. You could possibly run your quad on the nitro fuel that RC cars and planes use. It is 15 dollars a gallon but it gives the little 5-6 cc engines on the Rc vehicles about 2 HP which in NOT BAD! So i can only imagine how much power it would give the 400. You motor would probably be burned out really quick with that fuel though.

Yes, but it'll take a whole lot of stuff to do it, and quite possibly that paticular 400 isn't the motor to try it with, ( hint-hint )

You'll need, Fuel ( 60% methenol, 30% nitro, 10% klotz (to keep the top end in one piece, a lot more klotz less alchohol for 2 strokes))
An entirely different ignition system with meaner advance.
A lower end and piston(cermic topped) that's well over square, and rev happy.
A carb that's fairly big and has a LOT of fuel flow cpacity, ( the increased nitro content means that MUCH more fuel will be consumed in place of air, the nitro carries it's own oxygen into the cumbustion proccess. ) With the ceramic topped piston you may be able to lean the mix out slightly without melting it through.

I'm leaving some stuff off of here...intentionally, but you get the gist.

I believe that both of the Wolfe brothers from Kentucky have 400s that are over 100hp! The only thing is...they are on nitrous! I don't think that it is a good idea to try to achieve 100hp on a straight fuel burning 400 engine.........but, it's your money!

Elrancho..I'm a little confused with the statement "to keep the top end in one piece, a lot more klotz less alchohol for 2 strokes".

I know that with a 400 motor that when using nitro no more than 12% can be used. Banshee's can handle higher nitro blends than Polaris. Racers Edge uses a 25% nitro blend in their Banshees. I agree with the ceramic coatings for I'm sure that 100hp is going to heat things up even with the alcohol cooling affect. I do have a unopened can of nitro methane sitting in the basement that I've been wanting to mess with. Perhaps now is the time. Which fuel will produce the most hp, nitro or NOS?

Daransport...perhaps I need to talk to the Wolfe Bros. to see if they care to share any of their 100hp secrets. Do you know how to reach them? I understand that some sort of exotic fuel will be needed to acheive set goal.

Thanks all for your responses

Hey man sorry we couldnt work out a deal on that plastic.

But I dont think a Trail port motor is going to make me happy for long, so we need to talk, Also check out www.motomullsa.com they have a stroked Polaris on there. Im thinking Alchoal AAEN large intake kit on your HPD cylnder and maybe there 470 kit might make you happy,
