HPD & DG combo ???
#1
I know there has been a ton of posts on pipes but i have one more ?..
I was at my local dealer this weekend asking about pipes for my T.B. and he told me that they have found a good combination with a hpd pipe along with a dg silencer for these bikes and i was wondering if anyone has or has had this set up on thier quad and if it really does work well..
I was kinda wanting a nickel plated pipe but maybe this is not the way to go.
Thanks for any help......

To answer your question to the HPD/Dg combo, yes they work quite well with each other. I have the 99 Sport 400 with the RCR pipe and my brother has the 99 Trailblazer with the HPD pipe. The DG silencer has been on both ours since the time of purchase and no problems as of yet, although if you do use the DG silencer you will have to do some modification on the frame of the Trailblazer to get it to set and line up right but Hey! it's a Polaris that's the way it always is...well...not always. Anyway if thats what you want to do and you need more info, either I or Talonhawk who has the Trailblazer can provide more info.

Hey BRO !! You want to do a little riding tommorrow before the
weather changes again?
SPANKY, Like rictor774 said, Its a good combo. I can't tell
you if its better than HPD'S or RCR silencers because its the only
silencer that I've tried so far. It has that familar 2-stroke sound.
Alot better than stock. Only problem is, the silencer has 2 mounting
holes and the bike has only one mount position.
I'm sure it would be OK to just us one of the holes. I felt that
it needed to be fastened in both holes so with a spacer and a piece
of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch angle (the kind with holes on both sides)
I fastened it to the bike and then I could use the holes in the
angle to fasten it to the 2 holes on the silencer. Sounds like alot
of work for a silencer but it actually took me longer to drive to
Lowes to get the stuff that I needed than it took to put it on.
And like I said, you probably don't need to mount it in both locations
anyway. It was just my call!

Check out the FMF Turbine Core II as well. The DG products don't have that great a reputation.
I have a 2000 Scrambler with a HPD Trail pipe that I had Jet-Hot coated, and after I put that pretty pipe on, I couldn't bring myself to put a stock silencer / spark arrestor back on.
The FMF bolts straight on. No fabrication. No trips to Lowe's. It's USFS Approved too.

HPD & DG combo ???

I like the DG silencer. Its louder than stock but not too loud. I don't know the db level.
My brother has the same one on his 400 scrambler and his is pretty loud compared to
mine. It has a nice distinctive 2-stroke crack, towards the lowend of the sound spectrum.
