I had a topic of rim painting already started but I also want to know what other parts of scramblers people have painted. I painted my rims and they look awesome. I was thinking of painting my suspension springs yellow, and maybe even my hubs. What do you guys think about this, would it work, or would I be wasting my time. Ever since I saw those cannondales with their badass black rims I've wanted to change the look of my scrambler. Also, what sort of decals work on quad plastic. Will any automotive decals or stickers stick to the plastic good or not? Thanks for anyinfo, this thread should be for anyone who wants to discuss quad cosmetics, do's and don'ts, ideas or suggestions. Scramblers and other polaris quads I feel have a lot of potential in this area, theres just not much available to buy.

Hard to get paint to stick to aluminum, you'll need a self tacing primer if you want it to last. paint on plastic wont last no matter what you do. as for stickers, just make sure the plastic is clean. I think these are pretty cool... skinindustries.com

Last night I was searching on the net myself trying to find all the performance stickers that are on a 95 Sport that I just bought. I like the stickers and the placement of them. And they look good on the white plastic. But I'm going to strip off all the stickers and began to sand the plastic to get some of the color back out of it. You wouldn't believe the difference made to a spot I tested on. It's just the final stages that take a while. But it looked great. I don't know how it will do on color though. Might have to try it on my other Sport with yellow and purple to see how it comes out. I'm lucky enough to know a friend that can cut vinyl decals. So she is going to make me something to replace the stock stickers. But the one thing that bugs me is my front nose piece. The 98 nose plastic looks so much better than the 95. And I have been thinking what to do to change it, but can't think of much. But I know one thing, the fenders are getting cut!! And while my motor is off while I try to find a cylinder, I am going to paint it with Dupli-Color High Heat 1200 degree aluminum paint. I cleaned, sanded, and painted my recoil housing, and boy does it look good. I just hope it last. Next step will be the swing arm which will get a red coat. What other suggestions might one have while they have their motor and frame apart??

When I had my 99 Sport, I put a black Scrambler hood and black seat on it, I got small Wal-Mart fog lights for $18. mounted them under the fenders on the radiator shroud. I think it looked good. When I get home I will post a picture of it.

That's some good info, thanks. Do scramblers look good with shaved fenders? I dont' think I have ever seen one before.

BLH,
Why don't you think paint on the plastic will work? I have talked with several painters and they say that if you use the paint made for palstic that it will last for years. They are many car manufactures that use plastic parts such as bumpers, dash boards, etc. The parts are made in black and then painted to match the color of the car.
I had some parts powder coated a couple of years ago. I think that is the best way to go. It last longer than paint and looks nicer. the down side is that it is expensive.

You are absolutely right, there are paints out there for plastic this is paint that has a flex agent in it to allow the paint to be more flexible. The paint right paint will stick, and look good. But it won’t last, on a car the plastic parts don’t move. Look at a car that has been hit in the bumper, it doesn’t have to be hit very hard to crack the paint. The flex agent isnt designed for the amount of movement your plastic goes through. a few years ago there was a guy on here named Jack Shultz, he owns a shop, and had a Scrambler painted black. It looked great, but you couldn't take it in the woods, ALL the scratches showed, and little crack were it flexed from normal ridding. I am NOT trying to talk you out of this, if you like, give it a try. But if it doesn’t turn out, its goona be a real bear trying to get all that paint off. This is all just my 2 cents, I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, just trying to help.

Like you guys I like to mod my quad to make it more uniqe and personal. My trail balzer is purple and white and I was just going to paint the fenders green since no one makes them in that color. A green purple color combo looks realy sharp. My nose piece and seat are already purple that is why I was wanting to make the fenders green. I often wondered how the paint would hold up. The painters I spoke with told me it should do fine but had no real experience. I may try it. I just wish Maier or some company would make plastic in the different colors.
