Every time I Change pipes on my scrammy I have the hardest time pulling off and putting on those darn exhaust springs!!!! I almost always either break one, or it pops off and flys across the garage never to be seen again. Does anybody have any helpful hints for this problem.

Buy or make a spring puller.
If you got an old wide screw driver you can cut a notch in it at an angle the size of the spring, hook the spring in this notch and pull all the springs you want.

I use a 10" piece of piano wire. Twist a small loop at one end and clamp a vice grips at the other to pull with. This has worked for me very well on atvs, sleds, atvs. Good luck

4 words that do the job for me - NEEDLE NOSE VICE GRIPS !!!!!

The small ones, preferrably the ones with a little bend in the nose. If you have these and a 'spring tool' (esentially a hook with a screwdriver handle) your spring problems will be a thing of the past.

I have an exhaust spring tool. You can make the same thing by getting a metal clothes hanger and cut it to about 8 inches. Then bend one end about 1/2 inch back. Then take a pair of needle nosed visegrips and clamp down on the other end. Now you have a exhaust spring tool. It is so much easier than using just pliers or a screwdriver. You won't scrape your hands anymore.
