Alrighty then
I'm gonna give you my opinion here
and I hope you dont get all bent out of shape

I dont think its a good idea for a beginner to be strapping himself to a 700......but whatever, thats your choice and you know your limits.Have fun and be careful.

As for putting a 9 year old on a 400 2 stroke....
THATS just plain STUPID.And In my state it's illeagal
Have you ever ridden one of these? You should give it a shot before you put a kid on it
This is NOT the bike to be teaching a kid on.
He's gonna get hurt.

I'v got a 95 scram 400 4x4, 97 425 magnum, and 01 500 HO
I'll let anyone ride the mag
The 500 is all me
I only let exp. people ride the scram,it's not made to go slow.

I'm not trying to sound like an a$$hole,
I just dont want to see this kid get hurt.
And I would say the odds of him getting hurt is about 90%

I started this new thread because the 700 post was getting to long

I totally agree. I have a 2001 400 Scrambler 2wd and that thing has big time acceleration. My son is never allowed to ride it, period.

In fact the first time I rode it, it had 2 minutes idle time on it new at the dealer. I started out and got to about 5-10 mph and nailed it. It immediately stood straight up in a wheelie!. This thing has potentially for a lot of horse power.

It has the same sensation as the muscle cars of the late 1960's. Cheap to hop up, very reliable once it is hopped up and you will never apologize fot it's performance.

It is not great at anything (like MX) except speed and power, but it is the best multi-purpose all-around sport quad made. Overall, this thing is hard to beat for all types of riding every weekend.

So, my son rides his quad, and is not even allowed to sit on my 400 Scrambler.

Nuff said.

Hey guys thanks for your concern, the unit I was looking at is a Scrambler 400 4X4. Apparently, my dealer has a special order of these including an "X" He says they are either not being continued, or were special to begin with.

I assumed they were the 4-stroke like the Scrambler 500, which my son has ridden, but the dealer says it is the 2-stroke. I'll probably need to try this 2-stroke machine, but I think the 4-stroke is fine for my son (and me). Is anyone familiar with the 4x4 machine? Thanks - Dave

If your son is under 15 or 16, the 500 may not be wise either. These things have lots of power and weight. The wrong decision can be costly to their health.
