For those struggling with the question whether or not to buy the extended warrantee? As I said in an earlier post I seized the motor on my 2001 HO. It only had 1600 miles or about 240 hours on it.

How this happened, the motor lost all its oil. Why (?), all I can say is it cost me nothing.

Now for those who do not have a warrantee… The cost of parts and labor for my new crank, piston, rod, rings and all seals, gaskets and covers.. $2700. I had to pay nothing and had my ATV back in a week.

Let me tell you 14 months ago I was thinking $400 was a lot of money for that 3-year warrantee (Zero deductible!), not any more!

Before deciding on a warrantee you better ask yourself,

How good is my dealer (thank-God mine is excellent)
What can I fix myself?
What breaks most often on this machine?
How hard do I really ride?
And the biggie, what if?

I hope this can help anyone that is undecided on a warrantee. I also hope this helps people to remember to do what their manual says, do a pre ride check! In my case I had and it did not make a difference.
