whoops, break-in oil sp 700

SilverV10,
I called the service dept and that's exactly what they told me. They said I could top it off so I did. Now I am trying to figure out how I used a whole tank of gas on a 2 hour ride going 29 miles... I haven't seen any leaks on the floor. I expected it to use more than my Scram 500, but come on! I'll have to pull a trailer with a 55 gallon drum of gas if I want to ride all day.

Speaking of coolant fluid, what kind of coolant should I use in my new machine. Will Prestone work as well as the Polaris 60/40 that is recommended in the owners manual? My fluid level is also low and I am just wondering if I have to make a trip to the dealer for the Polaris 60/40. Any suggestions? Thanks

Just so everyone knows, all Polaris ATV's come pre-assembled(except the mini's). The only thing required by the dealer is to put the battery fluid in the battery and charge it. Outside of that, we have to go over the machine to make sure Polaris didn't forget anything.(They usually don't.)
As for the break in oil, 2000MOJAVE is right. The SP700 oil is a different color so that they can check the motor for possible leaks and porosity. It is their regular 0W40 oil with just a dye added to it so that it is visible with a black light.

If you are going to buy antifreeze other than Polaris's you need to make sure to buy stuff that is silicate free. Silicate is sand. Prestone is not to my knowledge. The new long life antifreezes usually are. They will say it on the container. If you use an antifreeze with silicate in it it will eat the seal out of your water pump.
