I am thinking about buying an HPD trail pipe and aggressive clutch kit as an upgrade to my RCR Stage 1 Kit. I have a few question thought.

Can you easily put the stock muffler on the HPD pipe? I want to be able to do that when I ride in places that require less sound and a spark arrestor. I see the pipe has hooks in the back of it for the springs. I plan on using my RCR alum. muffler when I can be loud.

Does it fit well to the machine? I feel my RCR pipe is just a bit too loud sometimes like maybe it is not fitting the best but it performs good.

Thanks for any input.

Hey Adam, I have the HPD trail pipe on my 400 Scrambler, and I use the stock muffler. I love the power, and It's definately not too loud.In fact I would like to get a different muffler to have more performance, and so It will sound louder. I love the racy sound, It sounds soooo cool. If you have a RCR top-end pipe, the trail pipe is almost identical. But it is an upgrade from the low and mid range pipes. I've also heard good things about the ag clutch kit. I don't have one, but it's on my very long list of things to get. I can do wheelies okay now, but would like a clutch kit so I could do them easier. Private message me if you have any other questions. Glad I could help.

For those out there with the HPD trail pipe, how well does that nickel plating hold up on the pipe? My RCR pipe is Jet Hot coated, looks nice but is hard to keep clean if you like to ride in mud. The mud seems to "bake" onto the pipe and takes some scrubbing to get it off.

How does the HPD trail pipe perform compared to the RCR mid-range pipe?

Ive had the HPD nickel coated trail pipe for a year now and really like it, It cleans up easy and will accept any stock or aftermarket silencer made for a sport or scram, I bought the pipe and aggressive clutch kit with a v-force reed cage at the same time and cant imagine going back to stock.

Thanks Todd.

I am now 100% sure that I will be ordering an HPD nickel pipe and ag. clutch kit. It should work well with my K&N filter/air box mod and Boyesen Power Reeds.
