HPD Roller Clutch - Broken Rollers anyone else?
#1
Anyone else break rollers on the HPD roller clutch? I broke mine at the Ironman (Indiana) GNCC in Oct. They all shattered! I kept riding the machine (wasnt going to not finish the race) and didnt realise thats what happened till the end of the race......
Of cource it killed the helix too since the roller "axles" were ridding on the helix once the rollers disenegrated.
Anyone else have this problem?

I have talked to a person named John at Lakeside Polaris. He is VERY BIG in racing Polaris. HPD recommends him from time to time. He says the same thing.
They have a website www.lakesidepolaris.com, you can call him and chat.

I broke one on my 97 sport that i was MX racing i call Aaens where i got it from and he said NO JUMPING with that one they have a new one out now that will handle jumping he told me that when you jump and let off the roller clutch closes and when you hit the ground and gas it its just like taking a slege Hammer and hitting it so it will only take so much before they all break inside, It happen to me on the track in second place (That Sucked)

AAEN roller clutches do what you described because they are more like a roller helix type, if you think of how the rollers roll up the ramp and then when you let off they back off the ramp and if you hit it hard the rollers hit the ramp head on and break.
HPD's roller clutch is encapsulated so the rollers stay on the helix wether up shifting or backshifting or coasting or whatever, they wont slam into the helix.
