Ive been doing a little research and want some opinions on my options for a new carb, Im running a HPD trail pipe, Aggressive clutch kit & V-force reed valve, I noticed Hotseat reccomends the TMX along with Ritters site but HPD says to go with the PWK, I want the best option with still using the stock airbox and choke and throttle cable, So let me know guys what the best bet is, Uncle Sam owes me a some money this year so Im going to do a little more to the 400

Todd400,

I had both the TMX and PWK. I never got the lean condition in the mid range on either carb. The 39mm PWK Kehin simply flows better than either the 38 mm TMX or the 42mm taper bore TMX. I was having problems getting the 38 mm TMX to flow enough for my engine. It hit a flat spot around 3/4-7/8 throttle and wouldn't flow any more after that. The 39mm PWK solved that.

If it were my money, I'd go with the 39mm PWK.

Good Luck,

You should do your engine pretty much all with the same person, HPD, RCR or if they both go out of business then go with HSP or AAEN.

Use what your engine person sells/recommends, doing it this way ensures you will get knowledgable help when you need it.

If you mix and max with different people who you gonna ask for assistance.

I personally have been using a 39 since the summer of 99 and it has worked perfect for me all year.

Looks like a pretty obvious decision.

I have used the 38TMX and now have the 39PWK. I've had it for almost 2 years now and find the PWK much easier to work on, and less tempermental than the TMX.

Thanks for the info guys, It isnt that I am lookimg to "mix & match" upgrades but I just wanted to do some research before I dropped a couple hundred bucks Ive always used RCR or HPD for all of my upgrades, I just wanted some input from the field on what works best. Thanks again!
