Polaris and a Winch

I didn't think you could damage the charging system by putting two batteries on like that. Batteries offer a wide range of input resistances throughout their range of charge so two in parallel should just look like one thats really discharged.

The regulation circuit stops increasing the field voltage of the alternator when the max current output is met. (Thereby saving the thing from destruction).

I may be wrong about this but I've never burned up a car alternator by charging a completely dead battery (which is a very low resistance). Maybe theres some special consideration for a quad that I'm unaware of..

One more thought...if the ****** block is used then the winch will run more easily at its rated rpm and will draw less current...so indeed the ****** block may end up using less current that without a ****** block for a particular job.....assuming the winch load is such that it runs slower without the ****** block....IMHO

Wow you guys get pretty technical with your info. Warn told me to put heavier wire on my winch 2000 lb using 6 gauge it would be the same as a 2500 lb winch. Everything in the 2000 lb winch is the same as the 2500 lb except for the external wires it sure made a difference on mine.
