welcome to the board, you will find atving is addictive. i have a 2 stroker myself one thing you will find is that they are trying to restrict 2 strokes. i live in california with crappy laws so thats one thing to watch. the second is check on your 2 stroke oil from time to time. thats what i learned so happy trails!!!!!!!!!!

why would you want to trade for a 4 stroke model/??
the 400 2 stroke engine is very tough and very reliable, ive had no engine problems, it always starts right up , cold or hot, and its damn hard to over heat, yeah make sure you keep that oil tank, fill it up every 4 gas tanks or so, but you should check it more often

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to go to the 500 Scrambler from the 400 either. Even if you aren't going to modify the motor, the 400 two strokes are one heck of a machine. The 500's have had reliablity problems and are usually heavier than their two stroke counterparts. Keep the 400, you'll be glad you did.

i could be wrong but i believe a two-stroke always has more punch than a 4. i had a '88 Honda 250R(actually two of them) and those quads really kicked the 4-strokes!
every once in awhile i get the urge to get a SC400 'cause i miss that old 250R!
anyways, welcome to the forum! it's great to see another guy from MA. we're a rare breed around here! LOL
your friend,
MT

Keep the 2-stroke......I smoked,SMOKED a Raptor 660 that has a pipe and an open airbox on a relatively stock Suzuki LT500R with flat tires and a shot suspension (and a BUNCH of other stuff) up the local bowl, so yeah, 2-strokes have a lot more power per cc, plus aftermarket mods make alot more difference on the 2-stroke motors than on a 4.......P.S. I completely restored and overly built the Zilla
