info for expedition 425 owners
#1
I have been looking around on web sites and I got a polaris new y2k catalog 2 weeks ago. Thought Id comment.
Highlifter posted on there online catalog, that they have a lift kit for us expedition 425 owners.
I had asked my dealer about one, over a month ago and he said we could not put a lift kit on an expedition. Seems that he is wrong. I may order it.
The new polaris accessories catalog does show a plow hook up for the expedition for those of you that want to plow snow.
There catalog shows that mudrunner has made some new atv tires for polaris atv's. All brands actually. They made a new 8 spoke rim but it is still made of steel. They do have an alluminum rim
for the scrambler. They showed in the catalog that
we could buy the mud runner tire and put them on our stock rims but I guess they are very heavy. I am wanting to go lighter. I have been looking around about tires and rims. I have fallen in love
with the 6ply mud bugs by maxxis as they are light. I was wondering if those new 8 spoke rims that different companys are making would be strong
enough for our heavy polaris atv's. Like the sp 500, mag 500, xplorer 400's and our expeditions. My idea, is that a light, super mud tire and light
and strong alluminum rim, even at the 26 inch or 27 inch would be lighter then what we have now. That sounds like it could be really good. Might even get more speed that we dont really need. I plan to call high lifter, later on after I get my tax refund and my y2k bonus back. Im going to talk
to them about the lift kit to.
Any way, they show in the catalog that we could get a 8 spoke steel rim and 26 inch mud runners for our expedition with no lift kit needed. You could go to your polaris dealer and get it all done.
After this spring when I decide what to do and buy and get it all bought and put on, I will post what
I did and how I like it. I may buy a rear bumper to and put it on. The 2 bar type to match what I have on the front. I plan to buy a winch cover to for my warner 2000 lb. winch. I think that will be
it then, for ever, as far as buying extra stuff for my atv.

I was at one of my atv dealers about a week ago and one of the repair men there said that they are
no longer installing lift kits for people because they have been breaking down, frequently. Im not sure what thats all about. I am considering buying
27 inch mud bugs, with a lift kit, and if alluminum rims were strong enough, then going with
those rims. In my mind, it sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for the info rangerchet. While I doubt I'll be lifting my Xped I would definitely be interested in a good, lighter tire/wheel combo, maybe 26inchers if theyll fit without a lift. I dont want to lift mine because with my big *** raises the center of gravity already!
Oh, and about plowing snow...uh..is that that white stuff??

Hi ronnie, If I had a digital camera, I would take
a picture of snow, and post it for you. Its real pretty stuff, untill it gets dirty that is.
Mabe your right. Lifting our exped. might not be a good idea. especially after reading about what its
doing to sp500's. and what my dealer said about it. It looks like we can put 26 inch with out a lift kit. There will probably be some rubbing however during bumps and such.
Maybe?, 26 inch mud bugs and strong alluminum rims
will work. I plan to talk to high lifter, this spring about my ideas. I am going to ask them about there lift kits to, incase I change my mind.
I own a town house, and our association, pays for snow plowing, so im not buying a plow either.
Happy atving, with your nice machine!
