feedback on epi clutch kit

Well,
your first mistake is the Dynoport pipe.Any pipe that does NOT require re-jetting or re-clutching will only give you very MINIMUM gains for the dollars spent.And the owner ''Rich'' at Dynoport is a real JERK.He made claims about his pipe that were very inaccurate,than when I went to send it back to him,he would'nt take it back.My Credit card company finally refused to pay him for misrepresenting his product and he FINALLY took the product back.
I used the EPI clutch kit in my 99 500cc Sportsman,it was a HUGE waste of $$.I called RcR racing [1618-644-3211 and Rick Ritter set me up with a primary spring for 30 bucks that did more for my performance on my Xplorer than the ENTIRE EPI kit did for me on my Sportsman.
I'd give Rick a call and SAVE some $$.

hey mudy4life how long did you try dynoport pipe. how did you come to the conclusion that it was not putting out power that it advertised. i am kind of thinking of going with another pipe. i have a freind that has same bike as mine. he went with dg racing pipe for srambler 400. had to do some mods to make it fit. exellent pipe. the scambler has no low range and pipe is made to extract all the power from motor.

I came to the conclussion the pipe sucked because I actually timed my ATV at 320ft and at about 600ft BEFORE I bought the pipe.After the pipe was installed,my time had changed very very little.And the Dynoport pipe did not meet current Michigan DB sound standards of 94db,the sound came in at about 98db.

I think meangreenmachine is running an HPD pipe for a scrambler on his Xplorer 400, and I've read nothing but good things about HPD's pipes. I think he is pleased with the performance gain. RCR most likely carries a pipe for your bike, and he carries the HPD line as well. A primary spring change to green will act like a stall converter, and will allow your bike to get closer to its powerband before moving. A white spring raises the engagement some, but not as much as a green spring. I'm running a white one in my Xplorer. Rick from RCR is the man to consult with your 400, especially concerning performance modifications.
