Changing oil in scrambler?
#1
I can't remember how much oil your supposed to put in your scrambler 500 after you have drained it and put a new filter on. Can someone tell me please. Alsp what are the other fluids that are really important to change. (Hubs, etc.)
Thanks for your help

Two quarts is all it takes. As far as fluids, I change all of mine frequently. I figure while I'm changin the engine oil, I might as well change the rest. It's no use saying one fluid is more important to change than another.

All fluids should be changed by at least the minnimum recomendations of your owners manual. Of course it never hurts to change more frequently. Dont forget your radiator also. It seems that some forget that brake fluid should be changed also. Brake fluid will crystalize after a period of time and cause premature wear through your brake system. Take a look at your brake fluid resivoir and if the fluid has an orangeish tint it made be time to bleed the lines and add new fluid.

This mainly is when the connection between the oil tank and the pump inlet house has been disconnected (which when you read the oil change procedure, they recommend..).
1. Clamp or pinch off the vent line approximately 2" from oil tank to avoid the endo fo oil tank vent fitting, and the vent line's pressure relief slit.
2. Run the engine for 45-60 seconds.
3. Remove the vent line clamp. The oil pump will now be properly primed and ready for field operation.
In reality, if you pull of the lower hose and clean the screen, you should prime the pump. I usually do it this way
1. Remove the hose on the top of the oil tank (it has a plastic nipple, be careful).
2. Start engine and let idle.
3. Place finger over nipple for about 30-45 seconds. When you release, you can feel the air rush out.
That is all I do....
