Info on Polaris Sportsman 700
#1
Hi all, I own a Robicon but am thinking of buying the sportsman 700. The thing that pushed me away from the Polaris line is the belt driven tranys. I heard that the belts get wet and slip in deep water and have trouble in marshy areas. I have been reading this form and another issue came up with the engine braking being to hard. Is the engine braking simular to the Robicon? Is there problems with the belts??? What is the top speed of the 700? How does the power compare to the Rubicon? Thank you for all help!

The vent for the trans is about seat level, on the left side of the gas tank. If you get in water that deep you'll have other problems, like air box and exaust. If you want to go in deep water like that...buy a boat! As far as the EBS, everyone here talks like it is horrible. I do not have a problem with mine, just a touch of the thumb and it doesn't brake! I guess you have to get use to what you ride...like anything else! Top speed... that's hard. It's only got 60 on the speedo, and I know it goes past that! Guessing @65 or so. Check the magazines, a couple of months ago I saw a top speed chart in one of them and the SP700 was close to the top...if not! As far as the rubicon, never ridden one of those, sounds like a nice atv.

I have a buddie that has a Rubicon, its a nice bike, but its hard to compare the 2 differant bikes becasue of 200 more cc's and they are just all around differant from each other. I dont know how fast my 700 is yet, but i also only have 75miles on it. I love the ebs, and if you need to use the brakes you can, I really like the brakes on my 700, but i dont use them alot I just start to slow down so that the ebs can do all the work for me. As for power Im willing to bet that the 700 will have alot more ***** then the 500. Hope some of this helps, and good luck with what ever you and up doing.
Thanks

The engine braking is very good on the sportsman 700. Some people think it is too good. One guy said he let off of the throttle and almost went over the handle bars. The story might be a little beefed up, though. I had a Polaris Magnum 325 that I drove the crap out of for two years, and never had one problem with the engine or belt. I think the top speed is about 67 on the 700, but it takes a while to get there. I am sure it has a lot more power than your Rubi. My Kodiak has a lot more power than my friends Rubi, and my neighbors Prairie 650 has more power than my Kodiak, and the sportsman 700 has more power than his 650.

The 700 no doubt has way more ***** than the Rubi. The Rubi is an awesome quad, built strong, but the 700 will ride circles around it in the mud. I'm not disrespecting the Rubi at all, so don't get me wrong. Its just that the 700 is in a class above it and it is ineviable that it is a better quad. If you want more power from the 700, just slap on a clutch kit and I gaurantee you it will be insane.
