Hey fellas,
I'm new to the atv world, and i know this ride is somewhat of a tank.
I'm looking for a few not so costly ways to wake up this "sleeping giant". I'm not gonna race the thing, just want a little more soup when i wanna play.
Thanks

Cheapest mod - change to white or green primary clutch spring. Cost is $20 or less, makes a noticeable difference in take-off and acceleration to about 35 or 40 or so. Green is more aggresive than white.
Next to try - go to a K&N or Uni filter in the intake, it breathes more air, but not so much so that you have to rejet. Cost should be under $30
There are bunches of things you can try, but these are cheap, easy, and shouldn't shorten the life of anything (unless maybe the belt from the spring swap, but mine went 5000 miles).
I did these mods to mine, and went from 2 lengths behind my brother on a 200 Yd (or so) drag race, to 1 length ahead, and from about 2-3 MPH slower top speed to 1 or 2 MPH faster. He has a 400 Xpress. Same basic bike, just not 4wd.
If you REALLY want to fly, get it ported, piped, head shaved, clutch kit, or a comination of these. Just about any of these will start to stress drivetrain components, though (maybe not the clutch kit, but the engine mods will - even just the pipe).
