Hi,
Guys I was just looking through their March issue in which they name the 300EX the best manual shift Sport quad. They say next months issue will compare the 300EX to the Scrambler 2X4 for the Sport title. Now I think the 300EX is a great machine, but if it beats the Scrambler (again I think) Those guys at that magazine must be on crack. In my opinion it's like comparing a Z-28 to a "new" Mecury Cougar. Sure the Cougar is smaller & easier to drive (and jump?) but come on!!!! Who would give up a Z-28 to a Cougar? I'm so tired of hearing those girls complain about how hard it steers & how easy the Honda is to move around. Stop being such damn wimps!
The 300EX is great quad, but truth be told that test is over before it starts!
c-ya,

Most of the time they rate the machines on performance on tracks, trails and obstacles. Never rider a scrambler 2x4 but my bro has a 300ex and i must give that thing credit. It's one of the best trail machines i have ever riden. as far a reliability its a 96 i think and has NEVER had a problem. I could see why you would be intimadated because it only a 300 going against a 400.

I've run against a hopped up 300ex on my butt-stock Scrambler. No contest.

The 300 owner, after bragging for months, pulled me over after 10 minutes of riding and said there was no competition here. He wanted to end that conversation and just play for the rest of the day.

If this were a simple race through the woods, the scrambler wins, hands down. They can pigeon-hole their specific rating points to make any machine win any test though. We'll see.

They said that the 400 was even faster on the track though, and I know it is on the trails. So why did it win? Easier to jump, that's it? I didn't read it.

There are certain things that hold the Scrambler back in the eyes of the "old-school" riders. Auto-tranny, MacPherson strut suspension, HEAVY weight. Comparing the 300EX to the Scrambler is like comparing apples to oranges, and I don't really think that it could be done without some personal bias. If you like an auto as opposed to a manual, you will lean towards that machine. If both machines were of the same genre, it would be more cut and dry. ATV Action just needs articles to fill its pages. Most of what they print I consider "crap". Personally, I prefer the 300EX, but that is just the type of rider I am.

I think that if polaris started to spend as many dollars on advertising in the magazine as honda did, you would see more favorable reports on the polaris......
