Alternative to Ti-downs....
#1
What does everyone use to tie down there quads on the back of trailers. I am getting a trailer made for me which will hold six quads and was wondering what people use other than straps. If there are some other alternatives tell me who I can talk to or a web sit a can go to find them. I remember seeing an advertisment somewhere about a bar clamp the you would hook to your quad and trailer and just clamp down. If anyone knows what I am talking about give me some help. Thanks for any info.

Try your Polaris Dealer. Some of the Polaris trailers have movable 'eyes' that you position on the floor, and there are ratcheting, lockable 'clamps' that grab these eyes, and the hitch & front tow hook (or axle or whatever) on your quad. As a bonus, they are steel and can be locked, making your quads at least somewhat theft resistant.
Ratcheting tie downs are the greatest, and have 1001 uses, but are easily cut by theives. Just balance your needs for convenience with security.

Try the link below. These are a little expensive, but they are an alternative to tie downs.

For the trailer vise unit's if you have any experience with a welder and metal work you can build yourself a set for less than 20 buck's a piece. Or you can just print the picture of it out and take the printout to a local welding shop and they can probably throw them together pretty cheap.

Do not use the bar lock thing.( the one that looks like "the club", I personally saw a 2001 rancher come off a trailer going down the freeway at 65. This was not a pretty sight as I had a front row seat so to speak. We stopped to help the poor guy collect up what was left of his machine and get it back on the trailer ind the loose parts in the truck. It was the guys first trip out with his new quad and it was totalled I don't think he had his suspesion compressed all the way and the hook just came off the quad.
I always block my front suspension and tie down with four straps. I do like the idea ofthe trailervise though.

To block the front suspension, is exactly that. Put a block of wood under the front end before you cinch down the straps. Make a block of wood, about a half an inch shorter than your front ground clearance. Place it under the front and cinch down your straps. This will keep the suspension from moving when you go over bumps in the road, and allowing your straps to slacken and come off.
