Are you kidding? Only the first 1000 machines made have serial #'s. If yours is one of them you would have seen it by now. It is an egg shaped emblem that says " 2002 polaris 700 Twin Sportsman #0000 to 1000. It is located right under the speedometer ( on the headlight pod ) looking at you when you are sitting on the machine. If you don't have one, consider yourself probably fortunate. I tend to think that the first ones built will probably have more problems. I hope not. Mine is #0498. So far only a leaking water pump and it's not near as quick as it was when it was new. The quick part may be too many cheeseburgers on my part or too many Micholob lights or eating ice cream while laying on my back in bed.

Like verypicky said, i believe only the first 1000 have the procuction number on them. But they do have the serial number and the production date sticker on the front of the quad. It is located right in front of the headlight below the handlebars. The date and serial number won't give the number of the quad but it should give you an idea because of the date and all. I hope this will help you out some.

Thanks for the info. Mine was made on Feb 6th. Which is a Wed. Im very happy that I didnt get a Friday or a Monday ATV. When I went into the dealer to buy one I told him that I wanted a midweek built ATV, he understood why I wanted one. He had two other ones that where built on a Monday and a Friday, If I wanted one of those I could have gotten it right away, but the wed one was still in the creat and I decided to wait until the wed one was ready.
Thanks

When I bought mine, I also had my choice. The one I bought with the production # or one with no production #. I chose the one with the #0498 thinking that mabey it might be worth something some day. I never even looked at the production date on the front panel for a couple days after I had it. Mfg date: 9-11-01, a Tuesday. When I showed it to my wife, she looked at me with that deer in the headlights look. OK men, Is this good or is this bad?? Is it going to be a good machine or a bad machine? Hummm!!

When I got mine on Sept.28,2001, I had the choice between #024 or one that did not have the special SN#. I chose the one that did not have the special SN# due to the fact that #024 was the first one my dealer recieved and this was the one that everyone (abused) test rode, myself included. The number of the button on the headlight pod does not even match the serial number of the bike. I believe my serial number was only a couple of hundred numbers away from the #024 bike.
