SP700 Problems?
#11
I have not had any problems with mine in the few short weeks that I have owned it. I only have 40 miles on it so far. I would have more, however, but we finally got some snow around here so it was time to burn up last years gas in the snowmobile!! Anyway, I was wondering what everyone's production date is? Mine was produced on 2-6-02. Those of you having problems, are they early producion models? Just curious. Thanks!

Glad to hear that most peoples are problem free. I think the early models are the ones that have all the problems. I was contomplateing between the sp700, grizz 660, and the kawi 650. I decided that the grizz was the best choice for me and will be getting it shortly. I also did not think the front protection was that great, and that is one of the things that turned me off to it.

I have heard all I need to hear. I will be waiting at least until next years 700's come out before I spend that kind of money on another toy to go hunting with. I can't afford to have nickel and dime problems with any 4-wheeler I ride. I give my 2001 500-HO Scrambler hell and really takes it well. The only thing I have had to fix is what I broke, you know just small stuff. One of the things that I don't like about Polaris is they really stick it to you on aftermarket accessories that should already be in the quad when you buy it. Plus everything is a little too expensive compared to other quad manufactures. Oh well, I have a few months to think about it. If Polaris does not get their ducks in a row and quit being so money hungry, I'll be lookin' elsewhere.

I just traded my 1999 Sportsman 500 for a 02-20-2002 Sportsman 700.
Had 1300 miles on 500 Sp. Have 1 mile on the 700(got it yesterday).
If any of you Pa riders wanna ride...I have some great places to ride. As long as you have a trailer. I ride with my buddy who has a 500 scrambler. We ride extreme and hard. 50-60 miles per trip. Every saturday. There are a zillion places in Pa to ride. We where helmets gloves boots and sometimes my buddy wheres racing pads.
I hope my dealer is good with warranty work because I ride hard and break stuff!

Glad to hear all this, I was also planning to get a 700 but now i think i will wait, I also heard some horror stories from guys around here, they also had some problems with the radiator guards and two say the 700 does'nt handle near as good as the 500 they had. Thanks for all the input.

Thanks Mike.....
I did what you said. I rode yesterday at Renova(Sproul State forest)
I put 60 miles on it and loved every minute. As I am brand loyal to Gm I am brand loyal to Polaris. 3rd one I have had...first was a 1996 500 sportsman...than a 1999 sportsman 500 now a sportsman 700.
I simply love the 700...its so fast. and it handles like a dream. I love the 4x4 option to go 2x4 I think its essential. I couldn't imagine being locked in 4 wheel all the time...

Dude, i live in central Pa and I would love to turn you on to new places to ride...I ride hard and extreme. I ride every weekend and ride all day. email me anytime and we can get together to ride. My buddy has a scrambler 500 and I have a 700...Only request is that you have a 400 or bigger bike and have 4x4...no 2x4 and no wimps. And you must carry your own tow strap( to pull me out of the mud) hehehe. I'm kinda joking about the request but my buddy hates to wait for slow riders(he used to wait for me when I had a 500 sportsman)....

The Ghost,
How is the riding area at Sproul? Did you do the outer loop? If any machine could do it it's the 700, I've heard it's pretty rough. Mostly the guys I rode with stayed in the stripping areas, and the pits. Lots and lots of riding up there. This year I'll have to take Celeste there. We went past it last year going to Susquehannock. Susquehannock is fun, but not much of a challenge.
I'm glad you took my advise (LOL)!
