On my 2000 sp 500 it idles very high at first start and after it warms up it goes back to some what a normal idle. But after riding for awhile, when i come to a stop it will quit and i have to restart like the idle is set to low. So, i adjust the idle up a bit to keep it running at idle but this affects it at cold starts making is idle just that much higher at cold starts. Any ideas on how to rememdy this or ideas on what may be causing this?

You might check your throddle cable adjustment, if it has slack the motor will quit when coming to stop.

Did you check to see if your choke was sticking. Just a thought.

Sometimes, if you've messed with the choke cable at all, or just from the vibration of the motor, the choke adjustment falls out of whack a tad.
