Scrambler 500 Top End Hop-Up Advice
#1
I just got a reply from Rick Ritter about what he recommends to give my Scrambler 500 more top end. This is HIS reply to me:
The best exhaust I know of for your machine is the HPD pipe. It sells for $380.00 with clutch kit. You must change the carburetor main jet also. This pipes makes a true 4 horsepower over stock. Top speed will increase a few MPH. Modifiing a 500 is tricky. Most pipes on the market actually lose power. Be VERY leary about what you purchase. You have many good questions, Would you mind E-mailing your phone number? I would like to talk with you on the phone about this.
Rick
This guy actually recommended someone else's pipe and clutch kit! I'm going to give him a call tomorrow. Later all,

I haven't seen any other modified 500's so i can't tell you too much about what mods they are running but RCR and HPD are two very good companies both willing to offer advice and opinions in your best interest. I personally have the full Aaen 500 Package ( 42mm TMX carb, K&N Airfilter, Megaphone Exhaust and Roller Clutch kit w/ aggressive profile ). It is advertised as a 15 HP increase but a more modest 10 to 12 is probably more realistic. The motor makes excellent power at 7000 RPM's and it feels as if the Zip tie has been removed from the 500's ***** so to speak.

Andy, YUP! I used to go there a lot, but now I usually just hang around here. It is cheaper to mod the Scrambler than the Cobra! And with 120,000 miles on the Cobra, I'm afraid to put a SC on it. Once I get it paid off and get a new set of wheels (4X4 wheels!) I'll probably do more to the Cobra. Later,
