I've gotta '99 Sportsman 335 and the stock 489's are near the end of life. Rears stil have about 25%, but fronts are less. Anyhow, I want to stay near the stock tire size and the lighter the better. Stock size is 24-8-12 Front, 24-11.5-10 rear. The biggest I think I would want to go is a 25" tire. Would like a tire that is good in mud and decent in sand.

Been looking at some sites on the net, but most don't list the weight of the tire and that is what i'm mostly interested in. Like the 589xt, but alittle expensive form what i've seen . Liked the Gator BCB, I think thats correct, because they were cheaper and looked good, but couldn't find their weights. Do most of these tires ride well out of the mud, like on a trail or a long hard packed clay road? The 489s were good rideing tires, but lacked traction. Looking for a light, cheaper tire with good traction. Any advice is appreciated.

Goodyear Mudrunners, Bearclaws or Titan 589s. East Kentuky Motor Sports are excellent folks to order from and they are on the net. Great prices!

If you want a stock tire with a little better bite then the Goodyear Tracker P is a good tire. They are on my Sportman from the factory and do well in almost any terrain. I will be buying the Goodyear Mudrunner as a replacement tire.

Check out www.treadepot.com they have quite a selection of tires. They are in Georgia and the shipping isn't bad. Best thing is they have the weights of most tires. Maxxis Surtracs rock!

Keep on riding!!

If you do any sand ridding you dont want Gators they dig too much.I have a set of Chin shen Jackals on a 425 magnum and they do great. The Gators I have on my Sportsman will bury you in deep sand.
