I have a 95' magnum 425 that runs great when first started but the longer it runs the more slugish it runs, it gets a hollow sound in the carb. kinda like how one sounds when the air cleaner is off. anyone got any suggestions to what the problem might be?

Thanks,
TB

Colder engines require a richer fuel mixture which is probably why your atv runs better when the engine is cold.

Try this: Check your choke adjustment, especially the operation of the choke circuit itself. Some Polaris carburetors which have been exposed to water (example Funwheeler Park), tend to corrode the choke circuit leaving the mixture too rich in the normal running mode; the choke is always partially engaged.

Is your air cleaner new?

I replaced the air cleaner yesterday and the problem was still there, a better example of what it is doing..(it acts like the reverse retarder is retarding in forward, but only when it is good and warm) I will check the choke...thanks

Might check the intake tube to make sure it isn't collapsing.

I just went and check a few things and rode a little bit and it is worse than before, now there is no power even when it is cold. It is poping back through the carb. any ideas on that one?

Thanks,
TB

Hmmmm.... Could be bad gas and your float bowl is full of water.

Or.... perhaps your etc switch is out of adjustment.

<< what in the world is an etc switch? >>

It is the switch which is located on your right handlebar inside of the box next to your handgrip. The contacts must be open under normal throttle operation or the engine performance will be limited.

If you have a pre filter on it change it or take it off and try.The next thing i would do is drain ALL the gas out and put in fresh. But my was doing the same thing yesterday and it cleared up when i changed my pre filter.
