I have been getting 16-18 trailriding with the 700 I would think you would have to be doing alot of low range to only be getting 10

Hey guys~
I have ridden with a few different quads and we always keep gas mileage. Here's what I have found from generally easy trail riding...cruising between 30 and 40 mph.

500 Sportsman:23-25 mpg
400 Explorer:22-23 mpg
400 Scrambler:18-19 mpg(dropped to 17 mpg with clutch kit)
325 Trailboss:30 mpg
250 Trailboss:14 mpg
125 Breeze:45-55 mpg!
DS650:26-30 mpg
660 Raptor:16-22 mpg
500 Vinson:27-30 mpg
650 Prairie:14-18 mpg
660 Grizzly:14-17 mpg

What really surprised me at first is how the manual quads(raptor, DS650) get better gas mileage than the similarly sized auto quads(Prairie, Grizz). Once I thought about it, I figure since they are moving less weight and no 4 wheel drive components, they should get better mileage.

Mine is slightly modified, I didn't really notice a differance before and after mods. I've always been around the low teens(mpg). Depending on the mood i was in

This really concerns me because I average over 20mpg with my
SP 500 HO (2001)which I would like to trade for a 700. I have a
larger tank with the 500 than is standard on the 700...
Should I be concerned??

You will only need to be concerned if you go on extended rides and if you don't enjoy packing extra gasoline. Personally, I don't like to strap on extra gasoline but sometimes I have to. I purchased one of the flat rack tanks like they have at Montana Jack's.

hey evensen, do you have problems running out of gas now? just top off the tank before you go each time, and for long rides... do what 700guy said and strap on another tank just a thought
