I get about 10 mpg, that's with me at 270lbs and my dog at 120lbs on it. I have 350 miles on it and do think the mpg are getting a little better. You need to keep in mind that the sp700 is a monster of an ATV.

The first time I checked mine using the fill at the pump method my SP700 drank 1.8 gallon in 16.4 miles = 9.11 MPG. I checked it again yesterday and it was a little less thirsty. 2.5 gallon, 31.1 miles = 12.44 MPG. On both rides it was in high range, very little idling and not flogged excessively. The tank holds 4.75 gallons so at 9.11 MPG range would be 43.27 miles and at 12.44 MPG 59.09 miles. Not too good!

I wonder if you get some mods on these things, if the mileage would pick up. Anyone have a pipe/silencer, K&N on one to compare with? Normally more gas equals more power. A friend with a stock Scrambler only got .2 mpg better than my full race-mod. For that kinda difference, I'll take the power.

Don't be afraid to "pull the trigger" (pin the throttle) you just might like it!!!

My Dealer said he went 78 miles at 55+ mph with no load, half of it was on a sandy road. If this is true I'll be happy :-)
I get about 65 miles to a tank same conditions, I can live with that.

what do you use as a benchmark for good vs bad gas mileage?
what does the average 500cc+ ATV get per mile?
what does a SP500 get for MPG?

I ride with friends that have SP500 HOs that get 20-22 MPG and have 5.25 gallon tanks.

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes by being in the Polaris forum. . .

mtpockets asked about mileage on 500+ cc machines:

I have the 28" 589's on my Grizzly 660. I get about 12 mpg under the following conditions:

about 3500 above sea level
60-70 degree temps
moderate to easy trails
without putting my foot into it
in high range
300lb load (includes me)
5.3 gallon gas tank = 63 miles from full to dry.

don't know if this contributes anything or not.

RATMAN,
thanks for the info!
12MPG on the Grizz doesn't seem that far-off from the 700 which appears to be around 10mpg.
