yesterday i went riding and heard grinding. i thought it was my rear cv, but i took it all apart and it is probably my tranny. i have it jacked up now. in 2wd i hit the gas and it revs out but nothing turns or moves. please help me out just give me any info possible

Check the linkage and make sure it is in gear. Do the same thing in low, high and reverse. If the wheels don't move in any selection, it might be the tranny. But most likly the linkage is out of adjustment.

 

in 4wd the front wheels turn not the back and in 2wd nothing happens. except the brake rotor turns. how do you adjust linkage? what else could it be?

Sounds bad....There are two chains in the transmission and I am going to guess you have broken the one that powers the rear tires...As for the cost....A friend of mine tore up the gear for the front output on his 99 SP500 pulling a car in reverse....Cost him $500 to have it fixed and I removed and intalled the transmission for him...Good luck
