I have a '99 Sportsman 500 and I noticed that my front drive shaft is always turning, even when not in 4x4. The front hubs are free wheeling but the axles are still turning as if the transmision was powering the wheels. Is this normal? It doesn't seem like it should be. I tired to turn the shaft by hand and it turns the back wheels when I do. What is wrong with my bike?

Yep, the shafts are always spinning. When you turn AWD on, the hubs will engage the shafts and thus producing true 4x4.
