There decent bikes for the 3k range, As far as trading it in dont expect more than the kelly blue book trade in value though, I had to hunt far and wide to find a dealer to take my scrambler in on trade for a Z400 and mine is damn near perfect, Other than that I dont think you will be disappointed in your investment. Someting like the T-boss is cool to hang onto anyways, Once you get hitched you can give to the Mrs's and buy whatever you desire

I had the 02 Trail Boss until they were stolen. I intend to replace it after settling with insurance. The Trail Boss is a great quad for the money. I climbed steep hills, rode a wide variety of trails, went through water a foot deep and was never disappointed. Understand this is a quad intended for trail riding, not high speeds, jumping, or dune riding and you will be satisfied. See if you can borrow or rent before deciding. All in all, I don't think you will regret buying one.

It depends on where you ride and with who I guess. Does everyone need a $7000 4x4? Our 2k1 Trailboss has been to 10,000 feet in the rockys, seat deep in swamp mud and has gone everywhere the 500HO has gone. Yes its needed to be towed a couple of times, but you know what? So does my 500.... Personally I think everyone should have 90cc quads - then let the best DRIVER win....

I would take the expedition 325 ten times over against the trail boss. You said it went everywhere the 500 went, but the "towed" part is pretty much the kicker here. Plus it doesn't even have racks. WTF???

The Trail Boss and the Expedition make an interesting comparison. Does the manual 5 speed of the Expedition improve the performance of the 325 engine significantly? I've noticed the Expedition is 100+ pounds heavier than the Trail Boss. The Expedition also has larger tires to turn than the Trail Boss. I have not ridden the Expedition, you make me curious, might have to take a test ride before buying again.
The Trail Boss comes with a large rear rack and a front rack can be added. Racks are metal and not the composite found on the Expedition.

I had the 2001 Trail Boss and was quite happy with it. It is about the most comfortable quad I ever owned. On the trails you rarely go full out and I could hang with some much faster atv's. At the end of the day I would be raring to go and their butts would be dragging. I had it deep in water (up to fenders) without slipping the belt.

Something to consider. I recently bought a 2002 Eiger 2wd for $3950. It has way more power, and a drive shaft. T Boss will run low 40's, Eiger runs upper 50's. Much more ground clearance. Hi-Lo range. Yamaha Big Bear was in the running too, I could get one for $3900 but Eiger had longer travel suspension and the dual range sold me.

Good luck making your decision.
