Went riding this past long weekend, and did some "illeagal" doubling with some of the kids. I washed my sp700, and found the rear fenders where the kids legs rubbed are now quite white! How dissapointing. Maybe I should have waited for the yellow one afterall. At least the yellow wouldn't show up nearly as bad!
I suppose it's nothing a little WD-40 won't fix.....

dont feel bad,,
the sp700 color black is the worst color they could have come out with,,mine is the same way,,
but it is at the shop getting the water pump leak fixed,,,i should have waited also, picking it up this morning from the dealer,,unless i trade it for the red 500ho they have there,i am not so sure about the dependabilty of the 700,,87 miles on it and its in the shop already..

Boy are you right about the Black color, it looks good at first...mine looks like its 5 years old with all the scratches that stick out like a sore thumb. 480 miles, been in the shop 4 times

I have the green Honda Rancher....same thing after i take the kids for a ride....the plastic gets scuffed up real easy...this is the first green machine i've owned and it is far worse than the red or yellow ones i've had in the past.

Has anyone tried using a heatgun or propane torch on the plastic of their black 700? The 500HO service manual recomends using a propane torch to remove fine scratches and stress marks. I have had good luck doing this on my red HO. Just heat it until it looks wet, then let it cool. Don't touch it when soft... might leave finger prints.
