If you find out anything, let me know. My coil went bad, but I can't figure out how to get the new one on. I knocked the sleeve off that covers the coil, but the coil itself sets inside a groove. The coil wires are wrapped around a hard plastic sleeve and it will not fit over the lip of the groove. No one seems to know how to accomplish this feat. A friend told me that I might have to heat up the coil assembly in the oven to make it pliable. He said to set the oven at about 100 degrees. Not enough to melt it, but enough to make it semi-soft. But it seems risky. It seems impossible to get it on, but there has to be a way. If I don't find out something soon, I may pop it in the oven. If I do and it works, I will let you know.
Good luck.
Good luck.

i had to change mine do to it being dropped as i was replacing ball joints but thats another story. ......... i took a die grinder and slit the wear sleeve, removed it and basically pried the coil off. the new one went on fairly easy. do you have the new coil to compare what your trying to remove as to what you should remove.??? also you didnt mention what year/model you are working on. make sure you seal the new coil and the wear ring with silicone as you reassemble
