New 2000 Explorer 250 4x4
#1
Well I just added a New Exporer to the fleet. The wife was wanting something new to ride. The old 94 300 was about to trip 6000 miles and she decided it was time to update as she is ready to ride again. I told her to pick out whatever she wanted and what does she do? She chooses one that looks just like the old 300 4x4 we had. I've not seen much about this new Quad any owners on here care to comment on it. I have not had a chance to really ride it yet. I would really like to hear what any of the Explorer 250 owners have to say about this machine .I know its a little late to turn back now but ,Why not? This is her birthday present I'm hoping I get a few bonus points for this.(If you know what I mean)

That's a hell of a Birthday Present Kagey!!! My Wife has been eyeing the same quad, It must be a woman thing..We test drove one about a month ago and it seemed nice but it sure didn't seem to have the peppy drive that the old 250 trail bosses had. It to me looked like a nice machine just that there was no power or accleration there. Let me know how it turns out after it is broke in. thanks

My wife has one too,but I ride it alot more than she does. The older trailbosses are faster because they are lighter. The bosses have about 5-7 mph more on the top end and get off the line a little quicker. The ride is pretty good with that 9" of rear travel. Your wife will like it.

Rammer; We took it out this past weekend . We have had 3 inches of rain here so things were a little sloppy to say the least. Much to my surprise the little quad is a really good mudder. The stock tires (Titan 489s) are really good on that machine. It will really kick the mud up in the air. You should have seen my wife after we got home. I was on the Magnum with my son and we hardly even got a speck on us. She was good and muddy. As far as the power compared to the 300 , The 300 pulled a little stronger right off the bottom end, it would spin the tires on a hard road a lot more than the 250 but once you get the revs up there seems to be little diffrence in the power. I have not had a chance to open it up yet to see what the top speed is but we will check it soon. We are going this weekend to ride at a place that is full of woods roads where we can stretch out. Overall to me it is a little more comfortable ride than the old 300 , The 250 has a little wider stance that makes it more stable. I also really like the rear disc brake that actually works!! The one on the 300 had to be constantly adjusted. Its a nice little machine with a nice price. Its not my 500 but nonetheless nice and it made my wife happy and thats worth a lot.
