Let's see here I know I shouldnt let it bother me but it does. All of the Polaris Bashing, i really like mine heck Im glad to say I own a Polaris SP 500. Yet a lot of people think because they dont know anything about them that Polaris are not dependable my SP500 is 2yrs old and the only thing that has gone wrong was my fault. The auto tranny in my opinon is great. Ive owned or rode almost every brand a few that are no longer in existence. Out of everything Ive had this one is my favorite.
They may of had some problems in the past but they seem to be trying really hard to elimante with the exception of weight. I think that there pretty good for company that started making snowmobiles. I know Honda makes car's very good cars but I havent seen a snowmobile yet.
So if we are happy with our choices as you guys are with yours than leave us be.

Polaris guys bash Hondas also. I think most of it it in fun though and there alot of Honda people who would love to take your Sportsman out for a ride and would come back Rehabilitated.

Don't worry about the bashing. If you are happy with our Quad, you have fun on it, it suits your needs & you don't spend more time repairing than riding, then it don't matter what brand you ride. That's not what's important. And also, no single quad is #1 in every area. As long as it's #1 to you it's ok with me.

ENJOY YOUR RIDE!!!!

Very well said all of you,but you know how it is when you'r proud of somthing and many people crack on it or put it down, just too much pride. Hondas are nice quality bikes so dont think I dont like them at all. I do really like the Rancher. But I would have to say if I didnt have Polaris i would most likely be on a 00Kodaik mostly because of dealer preference and it is a nice bike to.

Bashing each other's ride is part of it. I really believe that the 3 best rides out there are the Hondas, Yamahas, & Polaris.

The dealer you work with makes a REAL big difference. Our local Polaris-Kawi-Suzuki dealer are a pain to deal with they are closer to the house. I wanted to drive a Polaris but the sales guy told me no way. That I could buy it & then return it if I didn't like it. The Honda-Yamaha is a further drive but they let me drive 6 different quad before purchasing one.

Well you should not of started at the top with the Sportsman because now any new bike you get after this will make you feel like your missing something.

SuperDuty,

I ride with a bunch of guys with a mixture of Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki and Kawasaki (no Honda or AC). Part of our fun is ribbing each other when someone gets stuck, is slower...or we bag on the rider's skills. Truth is, any of the 4x4 machines would be good to ride. As a matter of fact, I encouraged some other riders who are thinking of upgrading to take my Grizzly on a good ride, to help them make an educated buying decision.

I thought about a Polaris SP500, but shyed away because of some problems one fellow rider had with a 325 Magnum getting stuck in gear when the body was in any kind of twist or bind. I saw the owner fight it 2 times, once for 15 minutes trying to get out of neutral. He eventually used a stick to pry it into gear.

Since that time it has not had as much problem. The 325 doesn't have near the power, and not even close on top end compared to my Grizzly, but with the AWD system, it has impressed me in the mud. Imagine what an SP500 could do.

Anyway, one member has a signature something like "it doesn't matter what you ride, just that you ride" which is very true.

Another saying, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". This often applies to ATV'ers who know about one good of bad aspect of machine, and assume all have the same problem, or further assume all machines from that manufacturer are the same. I based my opinion of Polaris on the only instances I had to draw from.
