Jay, I would just try the blue spring first. My wheeler starts engaging at about 3300 with the blue and s-55 weights. I am running the tight side tolerance on the belt deflection, though, about 1&1/8 inch. Did you know you can also increase engagement by using the race weight (10A) and running the stock washer on the clutch bolt? That keeps the clutch farther apart initially. It doesnt affect operation, either. But since you are already about the same engagement with the gold, I would just try the blue first. If that doesnt work, I would check with Mike first before going lighter on the weights. You'll lose acceleration with the lighter weights. I would go up to the violet primary and just adjust the weights to fine tune RPMs. What do you think?Bubba

Wow....Bubba....I would have figured that the Blue would have higher engagement than that. One our tachs must be off and is probably mine. I noticed that you engaged higher than I at Lil Sahara. A big 10-4 on the fine tuning......these ol Pols can be tricky. I'd say go ahead and try the violet.....it can't hurt anything. If it doesn't work go back. I'm getting a pretty good selection of clutch parts laying around here.

Jay, i bought the battery eliminator from white brothers. Dont go spending the 25.00 plus shipping to do it. It is simpley a DC polarized capacitor. 4900uf at 50Vdc. It is about 3 inches long and about 1&1/4 inches in diameter. Hook the negative side to ground and the positive hooks to the old small red charging wire that hooked to the solenoid along with the battery cable. It just loads the charging system a little bit to keep from burning it up. You should be able to buy the cap from a local A/C service place or industrial supply place for about $5-$7. Just keep it mounted away from the heat. Bubba

Mine starts the first pull every time with the 15.5:1 dome. Now if I could just get rid of the annual 4th of July gremlin...last year blew open a pipe, this year had a tink, tink coming from my secondary clutch. Broken roller...pretty good for 1.5 years of running it hard.

from what i heard from different clutch kit on the market you're better keeping the rpm close to 3500 rpm (not +) at engagement on the 400 scrambler,it snap a lot more at 4000 rpm but you'll loose some usable bottom end power on the trails,it all depend on what type of riding you'll go through.

Just got back from the drags at Texas Sand Drags and had a really good time. My fastest time was a 5.86 at 52mph. Best 60 ft time was a 2.045. Best reaction time a .422. This sport is really addicting. I think with a wheelie bar I could get into the 5.6 range cause I had to kinda go slow into the throttle at first then get on it or it would wheelie pretty bad. Thanks for the great port job Rick it made a big difference. My buddy has a Raptor with a yoshi header and pipe with a pro-flow air filter and I beat him almost everytime. He couldn't believe he got beat by me cause that NEVER happened before I got the port job, head mach. etc.... Thanks. Shawn.
