Polaris Clone?
#1
I happened to stop in at the local "Tractor Supply Company" and saw an "Agritrax" ATV. It sure looked like a Polaris, but the salesman said it was built by Manko, an Indiana manufacturer of Go Carts. It had steel racks and was listed as a 260 CC. engine. I was especially interested in the tie rod ends, since these have been discussed frequently here. It had rubber covers on them and looked rather sturdy. The whole steering assembly looked extremely Polaris. It had a belt drive setup. Just thought someone might want to know.

I attended a hardware supply buyer's convention this weekend and a booth had the Manco atv available there to order for inventory. I couldn't believe how close to the Polaris Magnum it looked. I bet the plastic would be a direct swap. I asked the dealer about it and all he could tell me was that he had noticed the similarities too. Said they are manufactured in China and then shipped out of a place in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This was wasn't called the Agri..., but it had some name like Talon or something. I asked the guy if I could order parts for it (thinking I might be able to buy a new foot rest to swap out the cracked one on my 99 SP500. He said they didn't have any parts catalogs available for them yet. Even worse, the cost for my store to purchase it for wholesale was $2800.00 USD. With the markup that would have to be added to make any money retail, I can't imagine anyone buying one of these, especially since it's only a 2x4.
My 2 cents,
