I don't own a trail boss, so I can't give you exact answers.
What is the stock spark plug number? Is the trail boss the 250 2 stroke or the newer 325 four stroke? There are several guides online where you can check out what each number/letter means on the spark plug. I think I saw a good guide on macdizzy's site. Just by changing the spark plug it would be doughtful that you would see any performance gains.

Last time I had my Scrambler serviced, they put a BKR5E in it (it is supposed to be a BKR6E). The BKR5E is a hotter plug better suited for trail riding where it might get wet. I have just installed the airbox mod, exhuast, clutch kit, and carb mod and switched it to a BKR7E. This plug runs cooler, better suited for higher RPMs.

Jeff, that is the exact same plug I run in my 01' Trail Boss. I have had it in there for over a year now and no problems at all. My Boss is modded pretty good. K&N air filter, air box mods, White Bros E-series and clutch work just to mention a few. You should have no problems with the BRK5E.
